lyrics

“Just wait,” they said.
“You’ll be great,” they said.
“Manifest your powers and glory is just ahead.”

“Focus your energy and unleash your wrath,”
But it’s a little hard to focus when your mother is a psychopath.

Powers didn’t come; I’m the bloodline’s disgrace,
Instead of getting glory, got a blast to the face.
And then mom killed my dad; I feared for my life
Said “peace out”, turned my back on this island of strife.

So I grabbed some guns, and escaped to the mainland,
Taking wetwork jobs as a superkiller gun hand,
Popped a few heads; made my way to Rook City
I did it to survive, and I admit it wasn’t pretty.

But that one mechanic at Slim’s Auto Shop,
Was the perfect mark, but then he got the drop,
He didn’t fight me back, he just asked me who I was,
But I couldn’t answer him, and it was all because…

...I didn’t know.
I wasn’t given the chance.
I was doing whatever my skills would allow,
But if I’m being honest, I didn’t really know how.

Could those super-powered heroes really be the real deal?
What’s in it for them, huh? What is it they feel?
I went to Megalopolis, see what they’re all about
And they asked me to join them...

Yeah, I guess I could help out.

Now I protect the streets, from threats and bombs,
Fightin’ robots and aliens and villains like my mom.
I don’t know if the weight of my past will cease,
But now I finally know who I am at least.

I’m a hero, not super, but a hero nonetheless.
I may not be good, but I'm doing my best.
I’m Expatriette, I’m the Dark Watch.
And I’ve got you in my sights.
